During the World Finals of the AMA-ProStar drag race series the Velocity Racing turbo Honda Blackbird-CBR1100XX ridden by Barry Henson broke the world record in the Streetbike Shootout class with a pass of 7.526 seconds at 192.63mph. What is even more impressive is Henson made the pass during his inaugural season with the Honda team. The previous record was held by team mate Kent Stotz also aboard a Honda Blackbird at 7.645 seconds and 192.33mph.

This record setting run capped of a great first season with Henson sweeping the last three events. He also grabbed three seconds in the nine round ProStar series, netting him a second place overall for the year in this heavily contested class, which is populated with factory and privateer teams. Henson also won the MIR-Rock four race series at Rockingham NC. with 2 first places finishes and one second. This same Honda/Henson combination also set the class record at “The Rock” with a run of 7.65 seconds at 190mph.
